Travel & Stay in Positano
We are starting to get really excited to celebrate our wedding with you all! Now that the wedding is only 9 months away & our guests are starting to plan their trips, we thought we would share some details here about when we’ll be there and where we recommend staying.
Our Dates in Positano
We’ll be in Positano from May 24th - June 1st, 2026.
Our wedding will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026.
The ‘Afterparty’
After the celebrations in Positano, some of our friends and family will be heading to Sardinia, a beautiful island just off the Amalfi Coast to spend a few nights.
If you’d like to keep the festivities going, we’d love for you to join! Sardinia is famous for its crystal-clear waters, stunning beaches, and laid-back island charm (making it the perfect place to unwind after the wedding). We’ll be there from around June 1st for approximately 3/4 nights, and will confirm the exact details soon.
Where to Stay
For the most convenient and scenic location, we recommend staying near Spiaggia Grande (the main beach in Positano).
This is the heart of the town, with easy access to restaurants, cafés, & shops. It’s also the best location for ferry connections to Amalfi & Capri, has incredible views, and there is much less stair climbing compared to other areas in town.
Positano is a very popular destination, we recommend booking accommodation early, hotels usually open their next ‘season’ 6-8 months in advance (making Sept/Oct/Nov a great time to start looking and booking). There is many more listings becoming available on Airbnb if this suits you & you are wanting to get something booked in ASAP.
Travel Tips
Getting There: The closest airport is Naples (NAP), but you can definitely fly into Rome (FCO) if that suits you. Below are some options for getting to Positano from either airports.
Private Transfer / Taxi
Easiest & most comfortable option (especially with luggage).
A private driver can meet you at the airport and take you directly to Positano (about ~1.5/2 hours depending on traffic).
Cost is usually around €160 - €250 each way for 2–3 people.
Shuttle or Bus
You can book a shared shuttle service in advance, it’s cheaper than a private car, but can take longer.
Alternatively, take the Curreri Viaggi bus from Naples Airport to Sorrento (about ~1.5 hours, €10–15), then connect to a local SITA bus to Positano (about ~1 hour).
More budget-friendly but can be crowded and involves transfers.
Train + Bus/Ferry Combo
Take the train from Naples Centrale station to Sorrento (via the Circumvesuviana line, ~1 hour, or the faster Campania Express, ~45 mins).
From Sorrento, either: Catch the SITA bus to Positano (~1 hour, €10), or hop on a ferry from Sorrento’s marina to Positano (~40 mins, €15–20).
Ferry (Seasonal, April–October)
From Naples port (Molo Beverello), you can take a direct ferry to Positano.
Takes ~2 hours, costs around €25–35.
A beautiful way to arrive, with incredible coastline views, but ferries run less often (We have also read on facebook groups that these ferries are often cancelled in rough seas).
Other Tips
Packing Note: Positano is built on cliffs with lots of steps, many locals recommend bring comfortable shoes!
Nearby Towns: Amalfi, Ravello, and Capri are easy day trips if you want to explore more of the Amalfi Coast.
